Գնալը կղզին Ասատուր ամոլին համար օդափոխութեան վայր մը չէր միայն, այլ՝ ներշնչանքի, ինքնամփոփման տարածք մը միեւնոյն ժամանակ։ Ծովն ու իր խորհուրդը, կղզին ու առանձնացումը անհրաժեշտ ստեղծագործական աւիւնը կու տային յատկապէս Զապէլ Ասատուրի (1863-1934) նման նրբազգաց հոգիի մը։

About the Situation of Armenians in Syria

The website "Azad Hye" recently interviewed Arax Pashayan, an expert in Arabic studies from Yerevan, who gave her views about the current developments in Syria and the situation of the local Armenian community. Incidentally, the editor of "Armeniaca" paid a ten-day visit to Aleppo from June 11-21, 2011 and saw no problems both on the Beirut-Aleppo road, back and forth, and in Aleppo itself, a bustling city with a very active nightlife and a vibrant Armenian community. We offer the English version of that interview as posted by "Azad Hye" on June 20, 2011, with minor editing.

ՀԱԼԷՊ.- Հովանաւորութեամբ Բերիոյ Հայոց Թեմի բարեջան Առաջնորդ Գերշ. Տ. Շահան եպս. Սարգիսեանի, կազմակերպութեամբ Ազգային Կեդրոնական Գրադարանի յանձնախումբի, Չորեքշաբթի, 15 Յունիս 2011ի երեկոյեան ժամը 8։00ին «Նիկոլ Աղբալեան» բարենորոգուած սրահին մէջ տեղի ունեցաւ դասախօսութիւն՝ «Արեւմտահայերէնի տագնապներ եւ մարտահրաւէրներ» խորագրով։ Դասախօսն էր ամերիկահայ բանասէր դոկտ. Վարդան Մատթէոսեան, որ այս առիթով Սրբազան Հօր հրաւէրով ժամանած էր Հալէպ։

Haigazian Armenological Review: launching of 31st volume

On June 22, 2011 the Haigazian University of Beirut launched the 31^st volume of the Haigazian Armenological Review. The Review was started in 1970 and has since provided an invaluable service as an annual forum for Armenologists from around the world. It is a bridge between Armenologists in Armenia and abroad. Its aim includes the promotion of original and unpublished research and scientific work in linguistics, literature, bibliography, history, culture, arts, medieval studies, social sciences, Christianity and international relations. Its international contributors hail from France, the UK, North and South America, Armenia and the Middle East, and have included many prestigious names in the academic field. The Review is a multilingual, yearly publication which accepts contributions in one of four languages: Armenian, English, French and Arabic. The current 31st volume is 764 pages.
